Meet the IT Futures team

The IT Futures team boasts a rich blend of commercial acumen, practical experience, business credentials and academic authority. Some of the key members are:

Diana Thompson - Business Director

Diana Thompson - Business Director

  • Diana Thompson is an academic in the University of Wolverhampton School of Computing. She was previously in charge of Marketing for the School and was also Head of Admissions.
  • She has a Mathematics Degree from Imperial College , London , and has carried out consultancy projects in the fields of statistical process control and multi-variate analysis.
  • Diana recently completed a Master of Business Administration Degree which included modules in Marketing, Information Systems, Organisation Behaviour, Finance and Accounting.
  • She manages IT Futures and focuses on the logistics, finance and marketing elements.
  • With Garry Homer, she jointly ran the Autolean and Autoclear projects which installed e-business capability into 250 SMEs in the West Midlands automotive supply chain. Partners included GKN, Unipart, Sun Microsystems, BT, Perwill PLC, Warwick Manufacturing Group and the European Automotive Initiative Group.
  • Diana Thompson has also run a variety of short courses for SMEs on Visual Basic, Project Management, and the Internet.

Garry Homer - Technical Director

Garry Homer - Technical Director

  • Extensive experience of applying Technology Transfer methods to the benefit of industry and commerce.
  • Managed Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, delivering cost savings and increased sales for companies such as Molynx PLC, Press Computer Systems Ltd, PAL Group Ltd, AMI (The Advance Group Ltd), Staffordshire Building Society, and Plant Energy Systems Ltd.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of developing kiosk technologies for unattended payment system and services.
  • Application of Smart Card (MIFARE) solutions.
  • Introduction of Chip ‘n PIN technologies into financial systems.
  • Factory automotive systems.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Experience in systems integration, i.e. getting disperate technologies to work in a coordinated manner, to achieve a solution to an ‘unsoluble' business/industry problem.

Tony Proctor - Senior IT Consultant

 

  • Is a qualified BS7799 Lead Auditor
    • Able to advise on IT security and vulnerability issues
  • An experienced advisor on IT Strategy, Solutions and Infrastructure,  specialising in gaining maximum advantage from the use of IT and 'computing on the move' (including Data Communications technologies).
  • Has   held a variety of  IT roles during a 19 year career, including Programming & Network Support, extensive Training experience and IT Management Roles.    Previous employers have included the BBC and the NHS.
  • Provides independent IT Consultancy.  Recent Clients include Local Government and Higher Education establishments.
  • Is an experienced IT Project Manager.
  • Continues to be a practicing Academic.
  • Current Industrial Links include the Academic Supervision of a Knowledge Transfer partnership.
  • Is a Chartered IT Professional.
