The WARP (Warning, Advice & Reporting Point) Network is a Cyber Security Hub that was formed as part of an initiative by the UK Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), to develop an Information Security Sharing Network. The hub is currently based in Wolverhampton, at the University of Wolverhampton’s Faculty of Science and Engineering IT Futures Department.
The existing WARP initiative is a means of improving cyber security by stimulating better communication of security alerts and warnings, raising awareness and to encourage incident reporting. Sharing information in a trusted and secure environment helps to reduce the risk of information systems being compromised and can therefore alleviate the risk of data breaches to organisations.
The WARP mainly deals with the Local Authorities in the West Midlands area, although we work closely with the East Midlands and South East WARPs.
From August 2014 until the End of 2014 266 alerts were sent out to members of the WARP group, in 2015 the total number of alerts for the year was increased to 1010
